Spring has arrived, so now is the time to get your yard back in shape!
As you begin to make plans for your lawn and garden this year, be sure to add compost to your list. Using compost adds nutrients to soil, helps retain moisture, and reduces erosion. Plus, you’ll weed and water much less!
Grow Gold Compost is a great, local compost option for all your lawn and garden needs. Since it’s made of materials rich in nitrogen and carbon, it promotes healthy, lush plant growth without the use of chemical fertilizers. And it’s made right here in the metro!
Grow Gold Compost is created at the Metro Compost Center at Metro Park East Landfill from yard waste collected through the Compost It! program. Once it arrives, the yard waste is ground, then turned and maintained for four to nine months as it decomposes into the compost that’s available for purchase.
There are three ways to purchase Grow Gold Compost:
- Bulk: Bulk compost sales are available at Metro Park East Landfill in Mitchellville. The minimum bulk purchase is 1 cubic yard, which is approximately enough to fill the back of a small pickup truck.
- Bag: Bag sales are available at Metro Park East Landfill in Mitchellville. The self-fill bags can hold approximately 2 cubic feet of compost.
- Retailer: Local landscape businesses and retailers sell and/or deliver Grow Gold Compost around the metro.
