A key focus for Metro Waste Authority is environmental stewardship, and we are proud to support individuals who share that passion and exemplify a commitment to conservation and sustainability. This is why we established the Environmental Stewardship Scholarship program.

Aidan Douglas
Aidan is a 2024 graduate from Southeast Polk High School who will be attending Iowa State University to focus on Environmental Engineering. Aidan is excited to develop knowledge and skills to pursue solutions to environmental problems.

Matthew Flyr
Matthew is a 2024 graduate from Urbandale High School who will be attending Coe College to focus on Environmental Studies and Creative Writing. Matthew is excited to collaborate with an academic community of scientists to learn more about how to care for our world in a sustainable way.
