Under state regulations, a Transfer Station Operator must be on site at all times if the facility is permitted for 20,000 tons or more per year of solid waste. This one-day course combines instruction with the Transfer Station Operator Certification Exam, providing an overview of the transfer station’s role in an integrated solid waste management system and the rules and regulations affecting its operations.

Course Objectives
- Examine transfer station operations and specific operation plans
- Review Emergency Response and Remedial Action Plans
- Review waste screening techniques including identification of universal symbols and markings and other symbols of unacceptable materials
- Establish understanding of the regulatory requirements involved in operating a transfer station in Iowa and the impact these rules have on specific job duties
- Improve transfer station service
Exam
This course includes a Transfer Station Operator Certification Exam, which will be 100 questions. Participants need to score 70% or better to pass.
