Collections & Drop-off Events
Many residents are cleaning up after the storm May 21, 2024. Some cities were affected more severely and may coordinate special collections or drop-off events. As information about individual city plans are shared with us, we will post here.
The following cities have announced their plans for its residents. Please click the name of your city for expanded details.
Altoona: brush drop-off will be open for residents Friday, May 24, and Tuesday, May 28, from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM both days.
Ankeny: curbside debris pick-up to begin Thursday, May 30. There will also be a tree and branch drop-off event scheduled for Saturday, June 1, from 9 AM - 3 PM. Please click to visit the City of Ankeny website for more information.
Clive: residents living east of Interstate 80/35 on Tuesday, May 28. Please click to visit City of Clive website for more information.
Des Moines: complimentary yard waste pick-up for residents starting Tuesday, May 28.
Grimes: for log or limbs, contact Public Works to schedule a time for large limb and brush pickup. Please click to visit City of Grimes website for more information.
Johnston: curbside clean-up will begin Tuesday, May 28. Please click to visit City of Johnston website for more information.
Polk County (Unincorporated): roadside pick-up Tuesday, May 28.
Urbandale: curbside pick-up starts Tuesday, May 28. Place material too large for the Compost It! program parallel to the street.
West Des Moines: debris too large for the Compost It! program will be picked up curbside starting Tuesday, May 28.
Windsor Heights: place debris at the curb. City will make a final pass on Wednesday, May 29.
